We built this folding shelf to answer the oldest problem in a Japanese bathroom, where the washing machine lives in the same tight corner as the bath and there is nowhere to put a towel. Instead of adding furniture, it borrows the one surface already there: the steel side of the machine itself.

The result measures 41 x 25 x 25.2 cm in use, folds to 4.1 cm, holds 1.5 kg and weighs 1270 g. It is still made in Japan, still powder-coated steel, and still designed so that when you do not need it, you barely see it.
