Product Story

Turmeric reached Japan during the Kyoho era, between 1716 and 1736, and its yellow root soon found uses in the kitchen and in dyeing, from pickled radish to the robes of monks. Today it grows across tropical Asia, in India, Malaysia, Indonesia and southern China, and in Japan in Okinawa and southern Kagoshima. We chose turmeric from India for this tea, roasted it and packed it at our factory in Komaki, Aichi. The result is a tea of one ingredient with the roasted flavor printed on the box. Now each of the 20 bags holds 3 g of turmeric, ready for a hot cup in winter or an iced glass in summer.
